Western Michigan fan cmlundy, aka Chad Lundy, held on to win the 2008 pick em title with an amazing pick
accuracy of 78.9%. Lundy was at or near the top of the standings all season long, and had an accuracy better than
81% for 8 of the 12 MAC teams. A trio of pickers - able1, ChiCub23, and Koeman, trailed cmluncdy by just 1 pick.
In the fan standings, Western Michigan fans grabbed the title with a 73.1% accuracy, ending the amazing 3 year title
run by Kent State fans. Northern Illinois was .004 behind WMU fans in 2nd place. Central Michigan fans brought up
the rear for the 2nd straight year, with the small number of pickers playing, while Buffalo and fans no of MAC team
in particular were just ahead of CMU.
The conference was a littler easier to predict than last season, with an overall
pick accruacy of 71.4% (7,508 correct picks against 3,001 incorrect picks), up from 67.6% last season but still
lower than the 72.8% accuracy in 2006. The MAC had an exceptional home court advantage this year and it showed in the picking. When pickers chose the
home team, they were correct 82% of the time. When pickers went out on the limb and chose the road team, pickers
suffered with a 48% accuracy rate.
Western Michigan was the most predictable team, with an 80% accuracy, while
Bowling Green was the toughest to predict, with an accuracy of 65%. Kent State was the most respected team in the
league, with an overall predicted win percentage of 83%, while Buffalo was least respected with a predicted win
percentage of 20%.
